fall

I am trying to keep my promise and here is a new shape game.  My students are learning about shapes with this game I created.  Students spin the spinner, identify the shape...to differentiate perhaps give an attribute ... then cover the shape on his or her game board.  Enjoy the weekend!!!!  TGIF

butterfly ten frame

We are starting a new themeatic focus- butterflies!  I have been searching blogs for ideas.  I have made a new game that focuses on the new common core math standards.

Students pick a number card from 0-10 and build that amount on their ten frame.  Students fill in the first row first.  Pick a different number and have the students build the new number.  Observe to see which students can
simply add or remove manipulatives and those that must begin from 1.
Then assess students using the  ten frame # ID sheet.

Pete The Cat

The last few days we have been reading books about Pete The Cat.
We just love Pete! He is a GROOVY cat!

We made Pete the Cat puppets and took a "rocking" tour of our school.
Here is a great link for downloading a story and song http://www.harpercollinschildrens.com/feature/petethecat/

New Year

It has been a really long time since I have blogged.  Last year I became a blog junkie!  I would spend hours reading all my favorite blogs.  I was so excited to start my own blog to share with teachers and friends... but then I did nothing.
Well that has changed this year! I PROMISE to blog and share once a week.  I am  feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the new changes... APPR, Common Core, new children and teachers.  We just spent two days on staff development with the new teacher evaluation system.. yikes!

It was so nice to actually spend time today with children.  I am feeling a little better today!  So I have a few pics of my new room.  I am so excited to be out of a cubicle!

I made pretty curtains to cover up the electrical panels... but the new fire inspected did not like them so much.  So I guess I am stuck looking at grey panels.  Let me know if you have any ideas!
